Camping
We finally braved our first camping trip! Welcome to our experience at Cedar Creek in Glenville, WV.
Our lovely campsite. When we arrived we were the only tent campers signed up for the weekend so we think we got the best spot. Serene, quiet....a little creek bed to the right, nice shade, the bathhouse only about a football field away in the opposite direction and a playground, too! Sweetness.
However, this picture may sum up why we were the only tent campers there when we arrived :) It was in the 40's that night and so of course when the sun came up and we got up it was still frigid. This picture was taken directly before we decided to load up and drive a nice haul into a small town to eat breakfast at McDonald's :) We couldn't quite keep the girls in their sleeping bags and otherwise it was too cold!
Once it warmed up we had a lovely day. Anna LOVED feeding the geese there. I think it was her favorite! Thankfully we didn't see the sign about not feeding the geese until four hours later in the building where we rented the paddle boat!
Sadly there weren't any suitable life jackets for Nadi :( Daryl was awesome though and hung out with her so Anna and I could paddle around together. She loved it! Super fun.
We also took a walk (I don't think you consider it hiking - we won't be doing much of that on camping trips till they are bigger or I'm much stronger!) and visited a lovely one room school house on site (seriously?).
Nap time that day left a little to be desired :) Anna had a hard time getting the concept of sleeping in the same room as Nadia, let alone not being in a bed. She is still in a crib as she's never tried to climb out and she kept saying, "This is NOT a bed." So we put her in the carseat to get her to go to bed for bedtime (she was exhausted!) and then she took a short nap in the carseat the next day and then she hung out with Daddy. Did I tell you Daddy was awesome this weekend?! He did all the hard work :)
The rest of the trip went great, too...minus the racoon that got into the trash bag we left out (oops). Anyways, sadly we only got to stay one night because the weather ended up predicting large thunderstorms all night and the next day. We didn't think that would be fun for the girls (or us) to sleep in and definitely wouldn't be fun to pack up in. So we stayed through dinner, packed up while the girls played around the site and headed home. Most gorgeous drive Daryl and I have been on together, I think.
Until next time! The Reynolds

ReplyDeleteoh my gosh! i can't believe you took 2 babies camping. you guys are amazing!
ReplyDeleteToo Fun!!!! Hope to go on a trip with you soon. Lets make plans, or make our husbands make plans. They are the ones with the scheduling issues. I think you would like it down here during the night it is much warmer. We got up to 98 degrees today though so that might be miserable. Miss you!
